Featuring elaborate scale film sets, tiny props, cinema projection, ace film technicians and a cast of performing hands, Cold Blood is a dreamy, compelling marvel.

Cold Blood is an astonishing theatre event that unfolds in miniature, and on the tips of performers’ fingers, right before your eyes. Staged in front of an audience and filmed and projected live in perfect synchronicity, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Belgian choreographer Michèle Anne De Mey and filmmaker Jaco Van Dormael have formed an inspired collaboration around this singular concept. Captivating cinematic vignettes celebrate life through the absurdity of death: a drive-in movie theatre, a war-ravaged city, a space station, an old Hollywood ballroom with a Fred and Ginger-style tap routine. It’s a journey across space and time, and into the enchanted memories of seven characters about to meet their end.

Funny, tragi-comic, philosophical and strangely moving, Cold Blood transports us to amazing miniature worlds where the fingers do the walking and a film crew captures it all in real time on a giant movie screen. Performed to music by Schubert, David Bowie, Janis Joplin and Nina Simone, this larger-than-life creation is hands down the most mind-blowing show you’ll see at this Festival.
