NEW GIG ANNOUNCED

ALDOUS HARDING & PERFUME GENIUS

Aldous and PG 1200x630

Mesmerising contemporary New Zealand musician Aldous Harding and extraordinary live performer Perfume Genius at an exclusive Auckland Arts Festival show performing at the Festival Playground, Silo Park.

Perfume Genius is the stage name for the brilliantly talented Seattle-based solo artist Mike Hadreas whose lush and transcendental albums, which straddle high art, chamber pop and opulent goth-glam, are lauded for their beauty, honesty, poetry and poignancy.

Hadreas’ latest, highly-starred album No Shape was acknowledged as one of the best of 2017 by The Guardian, and Best New Track (Slip Away) and one of the Best New Albums by Pitchfork. His music has been described as “breathtakingly original” (The Guardian), “pure decadence” (Pitchfork) and “thrillingly palpable” (Rolling Stone).

Aldous Harding shot to international fame following the release of her debut, self-titled album. An artist of rare calibre and intensity, she is known for her charismatic combination of talent, tenacity and shrewd wit.

Her second album, Party, sees Harding shape-shift through a raft of roles: chanteuse, folk singer and balladeer - all executed with her twisted touch of humour, hubris and quiet horror. It collected accolades from all over the world and UK blog The 405 hailed her "toweringly talented". The same year, she was invited to perform alongside Lorde on  BBC Two’s revered music show Later ... with Jools Holland.

Perfume Genius contributes to two songs on Party ('Imagining My Man' and 'Swell Does The Skull'), and the album, like his 2014 album Too Bright, was produced by the award-winning John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse).

In their Auckland Arts Festival gig, Aldous Harding and Perfume Genius will share the stage, performing their own songs and some together, for one momentous, electrifying and magnificent night only.
